July 01, 2018 – A festive day to all DavSurians as we all celebrate the 51st Araw ng Davao. The Provincial Government have planned a series of events to make the day fun-filled and memorable, with the theme “Gugmang Tiunay ug Serbisyong Tinud-anay alang sa Kalambuang Tunhay.”

The day started with the Thanksgiving Mass in the Mary Mediatrix Cathedral, Digos City. Afterward, the motorcade commenced from Rizal Park going to the Davao del Sur Coliseum. Upon arrival in the Coliseum, the Anniversary Program was initiated with the ecumenical prayers, National Anthem, and Provincial Hymn. Bansalan Mayor Quirina Sarte welcomed the residents and guests with her warmth-filled speech.

The Father of the Province, Gov. Douglas “Dodo” RA. Cagas, delivered his own speech to the audience emphasizing one’s love for his/her province. An entertainment production was presented before Atty. Ana Margarita A. Razonable, a Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member, introduced the guest speaker, Hon. Karlo Alexie B. Nograles, the Congressman of Davao City in the 1st District.

PIA-11/Davao del Sur: Davao City 1st District Representative Karlo B. Nograles said he is committed to provide assistance and support to the development of Davao del Sur province. He said his priority programs are centered on infrastructure projects, health, education, livelihood and peace and order. Nograles was with Sen. Cynthia Villar and Congresswoman Imee Marcos who were guest speakers during the culmination of the 51st Araw ng Davao del Sur today. (Carina L. Cayon)

PIA-11/Davao del Sur: “We really took time to make a good law for the coconut farmers,” Senator Cynthia Villar told Davao del Sur province constituents as she also shared how coconut farmers can benefit from the Coconut Industry Development Law which will have the Senate and Congress final approval by July this year. Sen. Villar graced this morning’s culmination program of the 51st Founding Anniversary of Davao del Sur held at the province’s Coliseum in Digos City. (Carina L. Cayon)

Provincial Administrator Marc Cagas delivered his closing remarks to end the Anniversary Program.

At around 1PM, the Circuit Rally Competition commenced at the Oval Ground, which is the parking Lot for the Davao del Sur Olympic Swimming Pool Building. Engines roared as daredevils conquered the circuit amidst overwhelming cheers from the audience.

As nighttime fell, the bands for the SMB concert started jamming on the stage while the audience enjoyed their bottles of ice-cold beer.

Before the night came to an end, Gov. Dodo Cagas delivered his thankful speech and closed the week-long celebration dramatically with a spectacular display of fireworks on a clear night sky.
