Fire Victims in Sambas Received Financial Assistance

Davao del Sur — Behind the misery they are in, the twenty families who lost their homes in a fire incident last February 13, 2019 in Sambas, Mc Arthur Highway, Barangay Zone 1, Digos City were so glad having received financial assistance from the Provincial Government.

Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Geraldine Lano and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer Christopher Tan led the distribution of checks worth Php10,000.00 to each of the families.
“A day after the fire broke out, Gov. Douglas Cagas gave us directives to verify how many were affected,” PSWDO Lano said. She also informed the fire victims that Governor Cagas instructed their office to fast track the distribution of cash assistance.

Sunsette Inoc, one of the victims, expressed in an interview her sorrow on the tragic experience. Yet, she was utterly thankful to the governor for the immediate help they received. “This will really help us to rebuild our houses and businesses,” Inoc said.

Board Member Fely Latasa and Col. Samuel Gadingan (Ret), also joined in releasing the cash assistance last February 27, 2019. (PIO|Marylie Noran)
