Coastal and Marine Resource Assessment conducted in the Municipality of Sta. Cruz through the collaboration of PENRO-LGU, DENR, Regional Office Technical Personnel CDD-CRFMS, MAO and MENRO Sta. Cruz, last July 16-18, 2024.
Coastal and Marine Resource Assessment conducted in the Digos city through the collaboration of PENRO-LGU, DENR REGIONAL OFFICE technical personnel, BRGY. LGU Sinawilan, Office of the Agriculturist , Office of the City Planning and Development Coordinator, Bantay Dagat, Digos City Greening Program division and Philippine Coast Guard, last July 30- 31, 2024.

The Mindanao Railway Project โ Tagum-Davao-Digos (MRP-TDD) Segment conducted Information Education Communication (IEC) activities in Digos City and Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur on October 27, 2022 to provide updates and status of the project. The representatives of the Provincial, Municipal, City and Barangay LGUs attended the event.
Site visit on the collected PET bottles and soft plastics in the Residual Containment Area (RCA) of the Municipality of Magsaysay conducted last October 26, 2022. Present in the site was MENR Officer Albert Cabila of MENR Office-Magsaysay.
Hauling of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles was conducted in the Municipality of Malalag last October 26, 2022 that will be delivered to Davao City and ultimately to Cavite for recycling. This is done though the collaboration of Coca Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc. (CCBPI), the Provincial Government of Davao del Sur thru PENRO-LGU, MENRO Malalag and Winder Recycling Company. Estimated quantity of PET bottles in the Residual Containment Area (RCA) of Sulop was around 4,000 kilograms or approximately 160,000 pieces of bottles. The PET bottle collection is currently done under the Tapon-to-Ipon Project of the CCBPI, a strategy to collect and recycle PET bottles. MENR Officer Myrna Relativo, Regional Sales Manager-South Davao Mr. John Reyes and PENR Officer Dulcesima Padillo were present during the PET bottle hauling.
The DENR-EMB XI together with the UNDP conducted a Public Consultation on the Implementing Rules and Regulation (IRR) of RA 11898 also known as the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Act last October 21, 2022 at the Ritz Hotel, Davao City. The EPR requires producers to be environmentally responsible throughout the life cycle of a product especially its post-consumer or end-of-life stage. ENR Officer Engr. Dulcesima D. Padillo attended the activity.

The Integrated Coastal Management โ Technical Working Group (ICM-TWG) conducted its coordination meeting regarding the Coastal Habitat and Socio-Economic Profiling, Reactivation of Marine Protected Area, Municipal Coastal Database, and other Integrated Coastal Management Activities of partner offices at the DENR-PENRO Conference Room, Digos City last October 19, 2022. Present were the representatives from DENR XI โ CDD CRFMS, DENR-PENRO, CENRO-DIGOS, BFAR-PFO, OPAg, City/Municipal ENROs and PENRO-LGU.
Distribution of planting materials was conducted for fifteen (15) beneficiaries of TIFWA Farmers Association in Barangay Tibolo, Sta. Cruz on Watershed โ PDDRMO project last October 14, 2022.
The Regional Cave Committee (RCC) XI conducted its Third Quarterly Meeting last September 23, 2022 at the DENR Regional Office, Davao City. The said meeting was presided by the MGB XI Geosciences Division Chief Engr. Beverly Mae M. Brebante to discuss the updates on caves management per province and training on Cave Rescue, Survey and Mapping. Provincial ENRO Engr. Dulcesima Padillo attended the meeting.
PENRO Alberto Bandiola and Dr. Archie Mallari facilitated an Orientation on the Preparation of the Special-Use Agreement in Protected Area (SAPA) and Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) for the Kapatagan Agro-Eco Park last September 22, 2022 at the Protected Area Superintendent (PASu) Office, Sitio Baras, Kapatagan, Digos City. It was attended by Mr. Glenn Inas, PEDIP Officer, Atty. Jose Carlo Pancho, Provincial Legal Officer, Mr. Rowell Bacongco, Representative of the Provincial Treasurer, Mr. Kervin Joseph Elijay, Provincial Tourism Officer, Ms. Imelda Rebuyon, Provincial Planning and Development Officer, and Engr. Dulcesima Padillo, Provincial ENRO. The said orientation was conducted to comply the requirements for projects and activities in the Protected Area and to support the operation of the Mt. Apo Agro-Eco Park.
The Provincial Government of Davao del Sur through the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO-LGU) together with the City Government of Digos, NGAs, NGOs and private entities joined to celebrate the 36th International Coastal Clean-up Day with the theme โFighting for Trash-Free Seas-Pilipinas: Ending the Flow of Trash at the Sourceโ last September 17, 2022 at Brgy. Dawis & Aplaya, Digos City. This activity was done through the conduct of coastal clean-up, river clean-up and mangrove planting. The said activity was conducted and participated with coastal and non-coastal LGUs of the province.
The Provincial Solid Waste Management Board convened for its quarterly meeting last September 16, 2022 at the Megan Function Hall, Digos City. It was presided by the Provincial Administrator Atty. Herbert Gonzales as the representative of Hon. Governor Yvonne Roรฑa Cagas. There were 16 solid waste management board members who attended the said meeting. One of the agenda was the presentation and approval of the draft Implementing Rules and Regulation of Provincial Ordinance No. 20-38 "Selective Plastic Prohibition and Regulation and the Use of Eco-Bag Ordinance of the Province of Davao del Sur"
A Tree Planting Activity was conducted last September 14, 2022 in Brgy. Maibo, Magsaysay together with the CBFM Project In-Charge Mr. Rodrigo Ocon and staff, Brgy. Officials of Brgy. Maibo and the 39th Infantry Battalion Philippine Army. This tree planting activity was conducted under the Communiy-Based Forest Management Project of PENRO-LGU.
A conference was held last August 25, 2022 at the Governorโs Office with the Honorable Governor Yvonne Roรฑa Cagas and the top officials of the Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines Inc to include Atty. Marc Cox, Stakeholder Relations Director, Mr. Edgar Allan Neri, Commercial Unit Director, Mr. Ramey Clavecillas, Manufacturing Unit Director, Mr. John Reyes, Regional Sales Manager and Mr. JC Cuanan, Sales Operations Assistant Manager.
The conference aimed to discuss the implementation of the Provincial Ordinance No. 20-38 on โSelective Plastic Prohibition and Regulation and the Use of Eco-bag Ordinance of the Province of Davao del Surโ and to presentthe Tapon to Ipon Program of Coca-Cola. Also present were Forester Alberto Bandiola PENR Officer of DENR, Atty. Jose Carlo Pancho, Provincial Legal Officer and Engr. Dulcesima Padillo, Provincial ENRO.
In celebration of the Environment Month (June) and in support of the proposed Bamboo Processing Facility of Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), the Sand and Gravel (SAG) and Earthfill Permittees of the Province of Davao del Sur initiated a bamboo planting activity in their individual areas.A total of 1,399 bamboo planting materials were planted in compliance to the requirement in the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC).
In line with the celebration of the 55th Araw ng Davao del Sur, a Tree Growing Activity dubbed as โ55 Trees 55 Yearsโ was conducted on June 26, 2022 in Sitio Talambato, Brgy. Asbang, Matanao, Davao del Sur. The activity was participated by the different Provincial Government Offices led by Governor Marc Douglas IV C. Cagas, National Government Agencies (NGAs), Academe, Private Organizations (POs),Sand and Gravel/Earthfill Permit Holders and individuals. More than 300 participants planted a total of 905 assorted forest and fruit trees seedlings and bamboo.
Governor-elect Yvonne Roรฑa Cagas attended the 5th Sorongon Tree Park anniversary celebration on June 24, 2022 in Brgy. Kibuaya, Hagonoy, Davao del Sur. The eleven-hectare tree park now serves as the home of more than 6,800 trees with 57 species, birds and insects. The area may serve as a future learning site destination of students and farmers and source of seeds for propagation.

Clean-up activities were conducted last April 20 and 21, 2022 within the Provincial Capitol and Davao del Sur Coliseum premises by the Capitol employees and employees of the National Government Agencies holding offices within the capitol compound. More than 200 employees participated in the activity. Around 600 kilograms of residual waste and 200 kilograms of recyclable waste were collected
