MOA Signing And Launching Of The Tupad Pangako Program

The government’s promise to former members of the communist group will be fully fulfilled after the MOA signing and launching of the Tupad Pangako Program was held today. It began with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between the five parties at the office of Davao del Sur Gov. Douglas Cagas. It consists of the Provincial Government of Davao del Sur, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine Army (PA), Philippine National Police (PNP), and Mindanao Baptist Rural Life Center (MBRLC).

The official opening of the said program was also held at Mt. Carmel, Kinuskusan, Bansalan, Davao del Sur, attended by 21 former rebels. Among those present were DILG XI Regional Director Alex Roldan, 10th Infantry Division (PA) Commander MGen Reuben Basiao, Davao del Sur PNP Provincial Director Col. Alberto Lupaz, Bansalan Mayor Quirina Sarte, MBRLC Chairman Roy Alimoane, and Provincial Administrator Herbert Gonzales representing Gov. Cagas.

The goal of the Tupad Pangako Program is to lead people who were once active in the armed movement but surrendered themselves and returned to the folds of the law to reunite with their respective families and start a new life.
