Department of Agriculture Turned Over Farm Machinery to UPSFIA Members and Officials

The Department of Agriculture (DA) turned over farm machinery to the members and officials of the Upper Sinayawan Farmers-Irrigators Association (UPSFIA), Inc., today, at Barangay Sinayawan, Hagonoy, Davao del Sur.

Present during the activity were Vice Gov. Marc Cagas, NIA Senior Institutional Development Officer Engr. Tony Apiag, Provincial Agriculturist Officer Raul Fueconcillo, Hagonoy Mayor Franco Magno Calida, Vice Mayor Dr. Vincent Alexis Paden, Municipal Councilor Fritz Gerald Blanco Surposa, OIC Municipal Agriculturist Hermoso Edullantes, Dep. Governors Jerry Responso and Jhun Reyes, members of the association headed by their president, Alma Maravillas, and others.

A unit of a four-wheel tractor and a unit of rice reaper have been turned over to the beneficiaries, according to OPAG Officer Fueconcillo. A unit of a floating tiller, a unit of a riding type rice transplanter, and a unit of a mobile rice mill will also be turned over.

The Department of Agriculture’s Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (DA-PHilMech) provided the five(5) pieces of machinery for a total of P1,368,000.00. The DA, LGU Hagonoy, and the Provincial Government of Davao del Sur collaborate to provide it to the farmers who are members of the association.

The association’s president, Maravillas, expressed his gratitude to government officials, particularly Governor and Vice Governor Cagas, Mayor Calida, and colleagues, who helped the farmers who needed such equipment for the development of their farms.
