DavSur Celebrates National Children's Month
In connection with the National Children’s Month celebration, the provincial government of Davao del Sur, together with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the National Youth Commission (NYC), and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), hosted the Provincial Children’s Congress at the Gov. Douglas Ra. Cagas Sports and Business Center in Matti, Digos City on November 23, 2022.
With the theme “Kalusugan, Kaisipan, at Kapakanan ng Bawat Bata Ating Tutukan!,” the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), led by Geraldine S. Lano, gathered youth from all over the province to join in activities and contests, such as hip-hop dancing, choral competitions, and duet singing contests.
Governor Yvonne Roña Cagas, who was present during the activity, gave 30 thousand pesos in cash to the children, which was agreed to be divided equally among the LGUs.
Danica Dela Cruz of the municipality of Sulop was the newly elected provincial representative, while Jazmine Grace Tapao of Digos City was the newly elected sectoral representative, on the same day as the election conducted for child representatives.
Board Member Atty. Anna Margarita Razonable, Board Member Shiela Cagas, and some participants, including teachers, PNP personnel, children, parents, NGO representatives, and child development workers, graced the event.
Aside from helping children express their rights and showcase their talents, the provincial government of Davao del Sur, through the Cagas administration, continued its support for the youth sector by giving scholarship grants and participating in various programs.
