Barangay Abnate, Raided By Various Government Agencies In The Implementation Of The "Ugnayan sa Barangay" Program

One of the most remote areas of Kiblawan, Davao del Sur, the Barangay Abnate, where the B’laan tribes live, has been raided by various government agencies. The group endured the difficulties of the road along the said area only to convey the government programs to the people and to hear their issues and concerns as well.

This is in the implementation of the “Ugnayan sa Barangay” program participated by the Provincial Government of Davao del Sur, Municipal Government of Kiblawan, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Army (39th IB), and other agencies. In order to promote true and sustainable peace and prosperity, the program aims to provide government services to people residing in GIDA or Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas.

Abnate barangay captain and current tribal chieftain, Wennie Pandoy, along with the residents and officials of the Municipality of Kiblawan, warmly welcomed the group.

The term “Abnate” means that the Banate tree is here, according to the B’laan tribes.
