COVID-19 UpdateHealth

Davao del Sur Governor Douglas Cagas received his first dose of Sinovac vaccine against COVID-19 today, May 16, 2021, at the governor’s residence, after a few months of waiting.
Even in the midst of the pandemic, as an active leader in our province, the governor continues to spend time attending events in various barangays, including meeting with visitors in his office, and this vaccination will be of great help to him in terms of protection against the COVID-19 virus.
The governor is included on the vaccination priority list because he is a senior citizen (77 years old) and not because of his position.
Before the vaccination campaign started, the governor said that he wanted to be the first to be vaccinated once the vaccines arrived. However, since the Department of Health follows a policy or order of priority that prioritizes medical frontliners (A1), the governor no longer insists; instead, he respects the protocol and simply waits his turn as a senior citizen (A2).
